Ah yes, the BBQ and hamburger season is upon us -
yum!
Summer, what a wonderful time of the year. I enjoy it because of
the green grass, the light rain falling on my face and the time to go for
late night walks. I enjoy listening to the birds singing away trying to
attract a mate and carry life on once again. I enjoy the smell of
mowed grass, heck I even enjoy mowing the grass. Remember those late
night walks? They aren't as boring as mowing the grass, so I appreciate it
more.
I enjoy having the neighbours, friends and so on over for BBQ, doing up
hamburgers, chicken and steaks on the ol' barbee. Time for good
food, good friends, good wine, and catching up on what's happening
around our friend's life.
I even enjoy the thunderstorms and rain falling on the roof while I am
inside my home. Sounds so cozy and safe!
Little things like this make summer worth while.
But let's not forget those about us who can't enjoy even a simple hot
dog. Am I saying go out and help everyone you see? Or am I laying a
guilt trip on you for enjoying a delicious BBQ meal?
Certainly not.
What I do want us to remember is to be thankful. Thankful for the
opportunity to enjoy these things, and thankful that we have the freedom,
security and money to do it also.
To be thankful, one has to say "thank you". Wow eh?
But to whom?
Well starting with your family, and even your work (remember money?),
but don't forget to be thankful to our wonderful Lord - Jesus. Many
people forget to say grace even at something as simple as a BBQ. So
next time why not stop a second and say grace at your BBQ and watch how the evening, the food,
and your friends seem to be better then before!
cheers
