End-Times Timeline: Revelation 19 - 21
I. The Heavenly Preparation and Triumph (Revelation 19:121)
A. The Marriage Feast of the Lamb (Rev. 19:79)
- 1. The Announcement: Heaven rejoices because the marriage of the Lamb has arrived.
- 2. The Brides Attire: The Bride makes herself ready, granted to wear fine linen, bright and clean.
- 3. The Spiritual Meaning: The fine linen represents the righteous acts of the saints (the overcomers).
- 4. The Blessing: A divine blessing is pronounced over those invited to the marriage supper.
B. The Return of Christ and the Overcomers (Rev. 19:1114)
- 1. The Glory of Christ: Heaven opens, and Jesus descends on a white horse as Faithful and True.
- 2. The Heavenly Armies: The overcomers follow Him from heaven on white horses.
- 3. The Uniform: The armies are clothed in the same fine linen, white and clean.
- 4. The Defeat of the Enemy: Christ strikes down the nations; the Beast and False Prophet are cast alive into the Lake of Fire.
II. The Millennial Kingdom (Revelation 20:16)
A. The Binding of Satan (Rev. 20:13)
- 1. The Divine Arrest: An angel descends from heaven with a key and a great chain.
- 2. The Imprisonment: Satan is bound and cast into the Abyss (the bottomless pit).
- 3. The Divine Seal: The pit is shut and sealed over him for exactly 1,000 years.
- 4. The Restraint: He is legally restricted so that he can no longer deceive the nations.
B. The 1,000-Year Reign (Rev. 20:46)
- 1. The Setup of Thrones: Authority to judge is given to those seated on the thrones.
- 2. The First Resurrection: The souls of the martyred saints and overcomers come to life.
- 3. The Qualification: This group includes those who refused the mark of the beast.
- 4. The Co-Regency: They serve as priests of God and reign with Christ for 1,000 years.
- 5. The Final Immunity: The Second Death has no power over those in the First Resurrection.
III. The Final Judgments (Revelation 20:715)
A. The Release and Final Doom of Satan (Rev. 20:710)
- 1. The Release: Satan is released from his prison at the expiration of the 1,000 years.
- 2. The Final Rebellion: He deceives the nations (Gog and Magog) to gather a global army for war.
- 3. The Siege: The enemy army surrounds the camp of the saints and the beloved city (Jerusalem).
- 4. The Divine Intervention: Fire comes down from God out of heaven and devours the rebels.
- 5. The Eternal Sentence: Satan is thrown into the Lake of Fire to be tormented forever and ever.
B. The Great White Throne Judgment (Rev. 20:1115)
- 1. The Setting: A great white throne appears, and the earth and heaven flee from God's presence.
- 2. The Universal Resurrection: All the remaining dead (the unsaved) stand before the throne.
- 3. The Evidence: The books are opened, and the dead are judged according to their works.
- 4. The Book of Life: Anyone whose name is not found written in the Book of Life is cast into the Lake of Fire.
- 5. The Conquest of Death: Death and Hades are thrown into the Lake of Fire, which is the Second Death.
IV. The Eternal State (Revelation 21:17)
A. The New Creation (Rev. 21:1)
- 1. The Passing of the Old: The first heaven and the first earth pass away completely.
- 2. The Geography: The sea exists no longer in the new order.
B. The Descent of the New Jerusalem (Rev. 21:27)
- 1. The Heavenly Origin: John sees the Holy City, New Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God.
- 2. The Appearance: It is prepared beautifully, like a bride adorned for her husband.
- 3. The Tabernacle of God: God's dwelling place is now permanently among men.
- 4. The Ultimate Comfort: God wipes away every tear; death, sorrow, crying, and pain are abolished forever.
